One woman revealed that she purposely lied to her husband’s grandma after she injured her son. She feels she is justified in lying because she did it in order to teach grandma a lesson.
She started out by saying that her husband’s grandma lives her whole life with the belief that you shouldn’t really worry about anything because things will work themselves out alright.
She never stopped to consider that grandma felt like this towards infants, or she never would have let grandma watch her son, who is 3-months-old.
She did let grandma watch her baby though less than 2 weeks ago, and while she was gone, grandma called her up to say her son had a small fall.
Over the phone, she could literally hear her son yelling, and she knew that something was really not right.
She instructed grandma to hang up and call 911, then give her a call as soon as she had an ambulance coming.
“I don’t think we need to bother with an ambulance, babies are tougher than they look you know, basically made of rubber,” grandma said to her.
This mom then said she knew her son was yelling in such a way that she thought he was injured, and grandma admitted that he had a bruise and a scratch on his head.
Grandma still refused to call 911, so she did, because head injuries and infants aren’t something to play around with.

As she was driving to the hospital with her boss, who offered to get her there, she called her husband to tell him that he needed to be the one to get the whole story from grandma, since she wasn’t owning up to what actually happened.
“It turns out she not only dropped my son, she dropped him while walking down the stairs, so he fell onto the second from the bottom step and hit his head on the third from the bottom step,” this mom explained.
Grandma met her at the hospital, where she tried to downplay everything again, accusing her of being dramatic.
She had finally had enough and told grandma she needed to go home.
“As it turns out, my son has a minor fracture in his skull, which will heal on its own, though it will take a couple of months,” she continued, acknowledging how lucky he got.
“The doctor said a fall like that could have easily caused a life-threatening brain injury, and my husband’s grandmother hesitating to call an ambulance absolutely could have increased his risk of serious disability or death.”
This mom was livid when she heard the news from the doctor. She knew she should call grandma to say her son would be alright, but as soon as grandma picked up the phone, she started saying she was right and she knew the baby was ok.
Grandma was so patronizing and uncaring that this mom knew she had to do something to try to teach her a lesson.
She then told grandma that they were not positive their son was going to survive, and then grandma started apologizing.
Later that same day, her husband called grandma back to say that their son was actually alright, and now some of her husband’s other family members are furious that she lied in the first place about the injury.
This mom feels that grandma deserved to feel upset since she didn’t care until she was under the impression the baby was going to potentially die.
Here’s what the internet had to say.
“Next time, she won’t tell you when your son “takes a tumble”…but you can bet the pediatrician would figure out he was injured during his next checkup.”
“That would start an inquiry into possible child abuse, and you could be looking at losing your son (hopefully only temporarily pending a full investigation). This kind of thing is no joke.”
“And the thing that shocks me the most was that she didn’t even apologize or feel any concern for the baby she dropped down the stairs. She is the worst great grandmother ever.”
“Actually, I don’t think you really lied/exaggerated that bad. I’m a nurse and you can’t be too sure with head injuries with a baby or child.”
“A lot can happen in the first 72 hours and there’s never any guarantee. How terrifying that must’ve been for you!”
“Your son comes first. At the very minimum, she should have called you after she dropped him and followed your instructions to the letter. It’s your baby. Not hers.”
“Not only did she drop him, but her blasé attitude could easily have made it much worse. She needed to understand the severity of the situation, and she needs to never be allowed near the baby unsupervised again.”
“And I wouldn’t blame you for not letting her near your son at all ever again.”
