After graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in Wood Product Engineering, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War, stationed in Da Nang with the 15th Aerial Port Squadron.
He received his honorable discharge from the service with the rank of Sergeant in April of 1972. Les moved to the Kansas City area and worked for over 25 years for Schutte Lumber Company, most recently as their credit manager. Les was a member of the Dwight Cowles Post 370 of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of both the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society and the North American Fishing Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annabelle and John R. London, who were of Bethany, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Betty J. London, their daughter, Lori Peterson and her husband Paul of Bonner Springs, KS. Tuesday at the church. The family requests no flowers, but suggests donations to Visitation Catholic Church or the UMKC Law Foundation. Judge Moore was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. He was a graduate of Southwest High School, Kansas City Junior College, the University of MissouriColumbia, and the University of MissouriKansas City School of Law. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and The Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, He was called to active duty in the U.S.
Army in 1941. He sailed from San Francisco in the first convoy after Pearl Harbor and served three and a half years in the Pacific, including Guadalcanal, New Georgia, and Philippine Liberation Campaigns. He received the appropriate ribbons and the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and reverted to the Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. He remained active in the Reserve and was President of the Kansas City Chapter, No. 1, of the Reserve Officers Association.
He was a founding member and first president of the Kay Cee Jay Cees. He was active in many civic and political affairs. He was manager of the Charter Party Headquarters in the 1939 recall petition campaign, President of the Democratic Association, and Co-Chairman of the United Democratic Association, Chairman of the Veterans' Committee for Good Government in 1946, and Chairman of the Liquor Control Board of Review. Admitted to the Bar in 1934 before graduation from law school, he was in the practice of law until he was appointed Circuit Judge in December 1963 by Governor John Dalton. He belonged to the American Bar Association, The Missouri Bar, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Lawyers Association of Kansas City (past president).
During this time, he was chairman of the 16th Circuit Bar Committee (the disciplinary arm of the Missour Supreme Court). Leaving his duties as managing partner of Gage, Hodges, Moore, Park Kreamer, he was installed as Judge of Division 9 of the Circuit Court of Jackson County in January 1964, where he was to serve until mandatory retirement in 1981. There he performed the duties of every possible assignment: civil, criminal, domestic, and juvenile. He was Presiding Judge for an unprecedented two full terms. During this period, he brought the Court under the then new County Charter with the Court's Administrator taking over the duties of the Circuit Clerk and the civil functions of the Sheriff.
For over a decade hu served on the Supreme Court Rules Committee. By its Order of September 25, 1980, this was described as "Hours of Selfless Public Service." Also, he was a "faculty advisor" at the National College of the Judiciary and later conducted seminars in Missouri, Kansas, and Kentucky, After retirement, Judge Moore continued to serve from time to time as a Senior Judge. He also was an arbitrator, mediator, and condemnation commissioner. These duties still left time for presidency of the 40 Years Ago Column Club, service to his church as Lector and Eucharistic Minister, and service to Shepherd's Center, as a Meals on Wheels driver, board member, and secretary. All of these activities were not as important to him as his family, The first thing which he did upon returning from overseas was to marry Frances, his law school classmate.
They lost little time in starting a growing family, so he is survived by Frances Kennedy Moore, his wife of over half a century; five children, the Rev. Lawrence W. After graduation, he enlisted and proudly served his country in the US Army until 1977. He served in Vietnam, Korea, and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
He received numerous medals and awards during his service. After leaving the service, he went to work in the oil fields in Oklahoma. He was an avid fisherman, and other hobbies included archery, bowling, and hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by four sisters and two brothers.

She attended Askew Elementary School in her early youth and went on to attend East High School, where she developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. On August 23, 1952, she married her childhood sweetheart, Bill Raup. They were married for 45 wonderful years and had four children. Her beloved husband passed away in May of 1998, but sunshine once again came into her life when she married Richard Nash. They were married June 6, 2000, and recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
She worked at various jobs over the years, mostly in the area of bookkeeping, and she owned her own business at the time of her death. Norma was preceded in death not only by her husband, Bill, but also by her parents, Mildred and Clarence Snyder. She leaves behind her husband, Richard M. Nash; siblings, Roma J. Netherton and C.
Uel Snyder; four children, Debbie Betsher, Beckie Daley, Sandie Quijas, and Bill Raup three devoted sons-in-law, Steve Betsher, Dan Daley, and Robert Quijas; eight grandchildren who were the light of her life, Chace Daley, Matt Quijas, Deanna Betsher, Nick Quijas, Amanda Daley, Scott Betsher, Laura Quijas, and Alexa Daley; along with her faithful cat, Bell, Norma loved spending time at the lake. She cherished her children and grandchildren, relished a day of successful shopping, had a knack for decorating and an amazing passion for life. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was raised in the rich tradition of the Church of Christ Holiness, USA. Wilhelmina worked diligently to raise her children, Whether times were lean or bountiful, their lives were always enriched with poetry, drama, reading, and the wealth of a solid Christian upbringing.
After. persevering through the challenges of raising five children alone and triumphantly battling bipolar disorder, Wilhelmina pursued a long-held dream to return to school, completing her Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1981. While studying at UMKC, she was selected to co-star with Ernie Hudson as "Mama" in the renowned play 'The Great White at the Missouri Repertory Theater. This was truly a highlight in her life as a thespian, and her family and friends, and many Kansas City patrons of the Arts cheered her on. She will always be remembered for pushing, prodding, and inspiring young people to try out their creative wings as she directed plays, dramatic readings, and oratory competitions for many years at church.
Her favorite artistic outlet through the years was to tear up with her sister, Janis, and grace audiences with awe-inspiring drama and song. A lifetime learner, Wilhelmina found herself thirsty again, and went on to pursue and complete her Master's Degree in Religious Education from the Nazarene Seminary in 1991 at the age of 60. She truly set an example for us all that it is never too late to start and never too late to finish the pursuit of one's educational dreams. After completing her Master's Degree, "Mama Robinson was dedicated solely to utilizing her skills and talents to assist her church, her community, her children, and her grandchildren. As a private tutor, she assisted many young people to conquer difficult subjects, and helped many to prepare for and successfully obtain their GED.
She was a charter member of First Church of Christ, Holiness, USA, and served there faithfully until her death. Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her parents, William Carroll and Leanna Corrine Hopkins; sister, Alma Pearson; brother, William Hopkins husband, Ernest Alvin Robinson; daughter, Brenda Joyce (Martin) Rogers; and grandson, Sean Lawrence Rogers. Mr. Russell was born August 30, 1915, in Millville, MO, and had lived in Northmore, MO, where he was employed by the BK Supply Company. He then moved to Excelsior Springs, MO, and worked for the Kansas City Star as a deliverer.
Ralph moved to Converse, where he and his wife owned the Converse General Store. After a move to Lathrop, he owned and operated a Standard Service Station until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lathrop, an Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the American Legion in Lathrop, MO. On May 21, 1938, Ralph was united in marriage to Helen Louise Gow in Olathe, KS, and she preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James G.
and Mayme Thacker Russell, and one son, James Ralph Russell Jr. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Schibsby, passed away June 25, 2001, at Timberlake Care Center at the age of 89. She was born March 15, 1912, to Ann and Frank Schibsby, and was a lifelong Kansas City resident. She was an employee of Research for 40 years, eventually becoming the Supervisor of the Radiology Department. She is survived by cousins, J. and Minna (Burns) Thurman. Frank was a lifelong area resident. He attended Prairie Grove School in Napoleon as a child. He graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1932. He was a WWII veteran and served in New Guinea and the Philippines in the Force of the South Pacific Theatre.
On September 26, 1948, he married Frances Irene Norton. They lived in rural Pleasant Hill before moving and establishing a dairy farm near Archie in 1956. Frank was active in his church and community and was an ordained deacon. He had a strong faith in the Lord and never let the daily struggles of life, get him down. For many years, he was a member of the Cass County Farm Bureau, Western Missouri Antique Tractor Association, Mid-America Dairy Association, on the Board of Directors at MFA Oil, a 4-H leader, and volunteered for the Cass County Extension office, along with many other agriculture-related associations.
He received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding achievement in agriculture stewardship and dairy farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Irene Thurman on October 19, 1992, and a brother, Gilbert Thurman. He was an active member of the Blue Springs Christian Church for many years, and later became a very willing worker for the Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene.
