LYNCHBURG, Va.UPDATE 11/18 8:30 p.m.:

The Lynchburg Police Department has found the vehicle they say was possibly driven by the suspect after a malicious wounding incident on Thursday, but no arrests have been made yet.

LPD said they found located the reported stolen black 2021 Infinity QX8 on Fridayin the 900 block of Floyd Street. There was no one in the vehicle.

On Thursday, officers said received a report of a malicious wounding incident in the 1500 block of Florida Avenue. They responded to 800 Greenfield Drive, a nearby area, around 12:59 p.m. where they found one adult male with a gunshot wound to the back.

A large, dark-colored SUV with two men inside was seen driving away from the scene at a high speed on Florida Avenue, toward Campbell Avenue.

Their initial investigation indicated the man was walking from the Greenfield Market to Greenfield Drive when he was shot and then fled to 800 Greenfield Drive where officers found him, authorities said.

LPD said they located multiple cartridge casings on Pinehurst Street which they think are related to the incident.

We’re told the victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Lynchburg police say no arrests have been made and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The Lynchburg Police Department is searching for a vehicle they say may have been involved in a shooting that happened on Thursday.

A large, dark-colored SUV occupied by two men was seen driving away from the scene at a high speed on Florida Avenue, toward Campbell Avenue. It was initially unclear if the vehicle was involved.

Authorities said they are now searching for a black 2021 Infiniti QX8 with a Massachusetts license plate that reads 2TLW69. They say the same make and model was reported to the LPD as stolen on Nov. 6.

The malicious wounding incident was reported to be in the 1500 block of Florida Avenue on Thursday, police said.

Lynchburg police are investigating a malicious wounding incident that is reported to have occurred in the 1500 block of Florida Ave. Thursday.

Police say officers responded to 800 Greenfield Drive at 12:59 p.m. for a report of malicious wounding.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one adult male with a gunshot wound to the back, according to police.

Authorities say the initial investigation indicates the adult male was walking from the Greenfield Market to Greenfield Drive when he was shot, and then fled to 800 Greenfield Drive where officers found him.

Police say officers located multiple cartridge casings on Pinehurst Street believed to be related to the incident.
